Frozen Diamonds

Launched in August 2016, Frozen Diamonds is a Rabcat Production that has been released on the Microgaming Quickfire platform. This video slot may very well be set in the arctic itself and will take you on a frozen adventure in the search for diamonds. See if you can break the ice-encrusted avalanche type reels and grab yourself a cool cash prize!

The Frozen Diamonds slot by Rabcat is a 5-reel, 3-row and 20 fixed pay line slot. The game includes a wild substitution symbol that can replace all other symbols and help create a winning combination. You also have an opportunity for ‘Bonus Falls’ which is where you get extra symbols replacing symbols after each win. Achieve three wins in a row to activate a free spins bonus round. The Frozen Diamonds slot offers a top prize of £2,000 on matching 5 of the high symbols.

How to play Frozen Diamonds Video Slot

When the game loads you will see that you are in the frozen wastelands and that each of the game symbols are inside frozen blocks of ice. The night sky, the cool blue colours and the suitably eerie background music help to immerse you into this frozen adventure.

The game makes use of some standard card type symbols, these being 10, J, Q and K. The higher value symbols are made up of various gemstones with the highest being the frozen diamonds. You also then have the wild symbol which is a star shape made up of all the other gems and with the word ‘Wild’ included on it.

Before you start your play on the Frozen Diamonds video slot make sure you set your cost per spin and that this is at a level you are comfortable with. This is simply a case of increasing or decreasing the ‘stake’ option on the bottom left side of the game screen. There are 9 settings ranging from 1p up to £2. This is the coin value you are setting per line, so your total bet per spin will range from 20p up to £40.

To start playing Frozen Diamonds you just need to select the frozen block of ice at the bottom of the game screen that has the image of a rotating arrow. There is also an ‘Auto Play’ button next to this block of ice. Selecting this will allow you to set the game to automatically spin between 5 and 100 spins. You also have a ‘Maxbet’ button that will instantly set the game to £40 per spin.

The game as you play is very nice to look at and the high-quality graphics make for a very professional looking slot. Sometimes, though, the high-quality of the game did seem to slow it down at times for us. The falling effect of the frozen tiles makes the game more interesting than the standard spinning of reels and makes you feel like you are getting a free spin after each win. This is the same principle as a few other slots such as Gonzo’s Quest by NetEnt.

As you create a ‘fall’ of blocks of ice, in other words, spin the reels, you will be aiming to try and get three wins in a row. This can be from the standard matching of at least 3 symbols or including the wild symbol. You can quite frequently get two wins after each other but it is the 3 wins in succession that is required for a free spins bonus round.

Once this feature has been activated, you will be awarded either 5 or 10 free spins. During each main free spin (not a bonus fall after a win) the middle reel will include either 2 or 3 wild symbols. This helps to create wins and increases your chances of getting three wins in a row. Every time you manage this you will be awarded an extra bonus spin. These bonus spins are guaranteed to have 3 wilds on the third reel and any win will be doubled. Once all free spins have been used, you are returned to the base game.

A further feature included is an option to gamble after any win. You can gamble a win up to 5 times. In the gamble feature, you will have two coloured frozen blocks. You have to select the one you think includes a diamond. If you are correct then you increase your win. If you guess incorrectly then you will lose your win completely.

Frozen Diamonds Video Slot Tips

On the bottom right-hand side of the game screen, you will  see an information button. This is a round circle with an ‘i’ in the center. Selecting this will reveal a series of 4 screens that give information about the game including the main features as discussed above. You can also view the coin payout levels for the number of matching symbols. These screens are useful and help familiarise you with the game and what you need to do to get the best wins possible.

Is Frozen Diamonds the right video slot for you?

The Frozen Diamonds Slot by Rabcat has a theoretical RTP (return to player) of 96.47% giving a house edge of 3.53%. We tested the game over 100 spins at a £1 cost per spin and found this slot to be of low to medium variance. We enjoyed the extended gameplay that the bonus falls produce by giving extra symbols after a win. This helped make the game feel like value for money to play.

Although on a couple of occasions we had a dry spell of up to 8 spins without a win, the cash prizes awarded ranged from a lowly 10p up to £6+ on a fairly regular basis. Then when the free spins are activated you could see some very decent wins produced. The Frozen Diamonds slot would suit you if you are looking for an enjoyable game with unique features that can offer a decent prize.
